Bookended by the entry-level Monster 696 and the big-bore The 796 fits the "monster" moniker well; it's an amalgam of naked Ducatis. The same air-cooled, two-valver, 803cc L-Twin lump that motivates the Hypermotard 796 powers the Monster 796, while its single-sided swingarm and wheels are the same as those on the Monster 1100. The Monster 796 offers the added option of ABS to further underline the model's focus on ease of use and everyday security. The 17" wheels are in the five 'Y-shape' spoked style and produced in lightweight aluminium to keep the unsprung weight low and handling, braking and acceleration performances high. The Monster 796 is a middleweight with all the sex appeal of its bigger brother, more poke than the entry-level version and the most comfortable riding position of all. Ducati launched its Monster Art project last year which is basically ten additional colours over the three standard options (in this case red, white and black) that comes in the Ducati Monster 796. The engine used in the 796 is based on that of the Monster 696's 695cc lump, and gets its extra displacement and power from a longer stroke and higher compression.
